RACING PERMITS.
MR HUNTER'S BILL CARRIED. The amendment to tho Gnnriirig Act proposed Dy Mr G. Hunter, member for Waipawa, was introduced to Pariament on Wednesday, and was dificussed freely from a non-narty standpoint. The Bill proposed ti) increase the number of permits by thirty in the proportion of seven t-j-'n tor racing clbus, ten for hunt clubs, :jdri three for trotting clubs. A discussion took place concerning Uio jjllocation, tho South Island members, including Sir Joseph Ward, advocating a greater proportion of permitu for trotting clubq. Ultimately, on tho suggestion of •'ho Hon. Mif Fisher, it wm decided to increase tho permits to thirtyone, in the proportion of fifteen for racing club 3, and ei,':lu «.-uch for hunt cluba and trotting clubH. The Bill was reported with the amendment:?, read third time, and passed amid applauae.
