TE KUITI DEBATING SOCIETY.

There a large attendance of the general public at the Municipal Hall oil Thursday evening, When* tha local Debating Society invited discussion on the very burning question "Shoulp Licensed Houses b£ established in Te Kuiti." His Worship the Mayor was voted to the chair. -Mr Elias Martin made out,a strong case for the granting of licenses in ,tbe King Country, and he was v?eirsupported by Messrs Robinson, Young and others. The Revs. Griffiths'and Bnttey and Messrs J. F. Walsh arid Elliott opposed any alteration in the ' law. The Society is to be congratulated on. bringing such -. questions before the public, N which are arousing widespread' interest throughout the Dominion, and it is hoped that the Society will continue on these lines.
