BOWLING CLUB BALL Arrangements in connection with the forthcoming ball are now well forward. The Alexandra Rink has been secured, and the committee will set about having the floor and decorations put in order in ample time for the event. The ..Dresden Orchestra, at Hamilton,, has been, engaged to provide music for the evening, and nothing will be left undone' to ensure the' succass of the function. The members of the ladies' committee are manifesting a-keen interest in the preparations" and-the secretarial duties in the capable hands'of Mr A. 'Julian are being attended, to in a manner which makes for success. EMPRESS PICTURES ———• . k I To night's ' change of \ programme will ba headed by a Btar drjima, entitled "Chivalry Outlawed." The supporting programme is-of the usual high order. Next Tuesday and Wednesday a magnificent film entitled "The Career of Napojaon : From Hi's Coronation to St. Helena," will be screened. The picture is by spacial permission,photographed at the actual famous places . where the historical episodes occurred. The picture is described as a wonderful piece of kinematography. .
TE KUITI MUSICAL SOCIETY'S GRAND CONCERT A concert of a very, high order will be given in the Town Hall on Tuesday, August 4th, by the Te Kuiti Musical and Dramati-c " Society, " This concert has been anxiously looked forwrd to by all interested townsfolk, and the Society has been assiduously at work for many weeks pagt in preparing for this concert which will "'be, without doubt, one of the finest vet given by local talent. A very fine and attractive programme has been arranged, and the Society, consisting of 40 voices, and assisted by an augmented orchestra, will render popular choruses, quartettes, duets and solos. Auckland's first-class tenor, Mr Victor Elliott, has been specially engaged for the occasion, and will render both humorous and sentimental items. A very enjoyable entertainment may be anticipated, and those wishing to reserve seats are advised to do so early.
