FOOTBALL.
The fixturs under ths auspices of the Maniapoto Rugby Union to-day are placed at Ongarue and Otorohanga respectively. Te Kuiti club meetß Ongarue and Nehenehe try conclusions with Otorohanga. On th 9 last occasion these teams met there waa no Bcore. The Te Kuiti team will be somewhat weakened by the absence of Meares and Keid from the forwards, both thesi players having been injured in the Otorohanga matib. However, u . good game ia expected and aeveral club supporters will probably the team. NEW ZEALAND TOURING TEAM The New Zealand footballers gained a runaway victory against Western Districts at Orange on Wednesday, the score being 59 points to 10. This is the largest score ever put'up by a-iy New Zealand team in Australia, the previous best being 53 to (J against Northern Districts in 1903. ji The ground was very heavy, and rain fell during the afternoon. The team was cordially welcomed on its arrival. The rumours that three members of the team have expressed a desire to play League football are indigoontly denied by oil members of the team. The Governor-General, Sir K. C. Mahro-Ferguson, and the State Governor, Sir- Gerald Strickland, have notified their intention of attending Saturday's Jest.
