CLYDESDALE STUD BOOK.
A VALUABLE PUBLICATION. Ihe Clydesdale Stud Book which is issued by the Clydesdale Society o? the Dominion is bound to become a highly useful publication. The firßt volume which haj just come to hand from the Society contains entries totalling 2052 including stallions, mares, and produce. In addition to a considerable number of entries of animals now living, the padigrees of not a few makers of history in the past have been included. The preface to the volume states that the council fael that the issue o? the volume marks a new era in the history of Clydesdales in N«w Zealand and that henceforth a greater amount of attention will be paid to the study of pedigree of this class of horse. A great amount of research work was entailed in tracing and verifying pedigrees and still much remains to be done. It' is intended to publish in successive volumes the pedigrees of sires of the past not yet included and it is realised that the work of the Society has but just commenced. The volume is thoroughly well compiled and as a standard work is destined to occupy an important position in the horse breeding world of the country. It includes the pedigrees of mures and stallions foaled prior to August, 1913, in addition to much valuable information on the history of the breed. The book is obtainable from the secretary, Mr J. A. Rankin, at the registered office of the Society, 87 Crawford street, Dunedin, the price being 21s nett, with 8d for postage.
