LABOUR COMBINE.
A FACTOR FOR PEACE. FAVOURED BY EMPLOYERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—CopyrigliV Sydney, Thursday. Various viewa are expressed by unionists regarding the new Federation. In one direction it is claimed that it ia merely a political move, as a prelude to an early dissolution of the Federal Parliament. Another view is that if the whole thing can be accepted at its face value it is really a fjsie accomplishment, bringing into ,fine the whole union movement in New South Wales, and should make for permanent industrial peace. Dissentient unionists declare the fact that the Federation deciding not to send a delegate to the New Zealand Conference ia clear proof j that the leaders of the Federation have no wi&h to become mixed up with the Dominion "Red" Federation. If the Federation were in earnest it would not be ashamed to meet the New Zealand unions. One added that "they are not earnest, and I know that the Dominion men will soon iind it out." The employers are loth to express an opinion until something more definite ia known of the Federation's intentions. The general opinion seemed to be that the idea of one big union would he favoured by employers, sincp it would preclude the constant source of annoyance in having to negotiate with many different bodies. One employer summarised the situation, "I believe we will have one big fight so as to permanently settle all these things."
