LIQUOR CONTROL.
KING COUNTRY CONFERENCE,
Raetihi, Tuesday,
In common with other local bodies, the Raetihi Town Board has appointed a delegate to attend a conference of local bodies at Te Kuiti on June 4tb, in connection with the licensing question. As in the cass of the Ohakune Borough Council, the Raetihi representative ha 3 been instructed to vote in favour of municipal control. In regard to the appointment of a delegate by the Ohakune Borough Council, Cr Craven has submitted an ! interesting return showing that the net profit derived from tha South Renmark municipal hotel, South Australia, was £2BOO for one year. Previously that municipality was in a similar position to King Country towns. He knew the town well, and it was now practically free of rates, as the revenue from the municipal hotel was sufficient for tb6 upkeep of roads, footpaths, etc., and the only rate struck was that nscessary to pay the town clerk's salary.
