LAND TENURE.
ROYAL COMMISSION APPOINTED
MA-*OR LUSK INCLUDED.

The Government has appointed a commission to inquire into conditions under which land is held from the Crown with a view to providing tenures mora satisfactory to settlers, and at the same time hope to guard the interests of the State. The members of the Commission ara:— Mr Strauchon, late Under-Secretary of Lands;f Majur Laslc, president of the Auckland Farmers' Union; Mr John Allman Marchant, managing director of tha Ruatapu sawmill, near Hokitika, The Commission is to conduct inquiries in the first instance in West-land and Nelson, and afterwards. with possibly some slight alteration in personnel and in order of reference, will extend its inquiries to North Auckland, then to Thames, Paeroa, and Rotorua districts. .
