STRAY DOG NUISANCE.
SHEEP WORRYING OUTBREAK
Periodic outbreaks of sheep worrying by dogs occur at Te Kuiti, and several cases have been reported lately. Mr Gadaby was one of the first sufferers in this respect, and succeeded in shooting one dog found on his properly. Mr Somervillo has had an anxious time and has shot two dogs wit'iout collars which were among his stud sheep. Notwithstandng every precaution. Mr Somerville has suffered considerably through the depredations of the stray canines. At an early hour this morning two dogs were discovered among his fat wethers, and ten of the sheep were found to have been worried. As the stud sheep are valued at four guineas a-piece it will be seen that the lo3S is of a serious nature. Another case reported is that in respect of sheep which were placed in the local saleyards at dusk last evening, and this morning three of them were discovered worried. The owners of stray dogs are run ning a serious risk, as in the case of the ownership of the sheep worriers beng discovered, damages of a subtantial nature Will be recoverable.
