DAIRYING MATTERS
A largely attended meeting of shareholders in the Mokauiti Go-oper-ative Dairy Company was held at Tangitu last week. The meeting was called for the purpose of considering the question of proceeding with the erection of a factory. After a lengthy debate on the subject the meeting decided that the directors should get all necessary information with respect to building, and report to a further meeting of shareholders. Great enthusiasm was shown as it was recognised that there ia a good future in front of a butter factory here, provided everyone does their best to make it a success. Operations should start the season after next, with the cream from at least 1000 cows,
During an interval a very interesting address was given by Mr Waiker on "The Benefits of Co-operation." The speaker handled his subject well, and, had time permitted, would have given the settlers a great deal of valuable information. At the Mr Walker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. ARRIVAL OF NURSE.
District Nurse' McKinver has commenced her duties in the settlement and should prove a very useful member of the community, as her large experience round Edinburgh has fitted her to deal with all sorts cf cases. Seeing that the nearest doctor is 40 miles away from most of us an experienced nurse is a great boon. SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION. At the monthly meeting of the Tangitu Settlers' Association the old question of roads—or, rather, no roads —was thoroughly discussed, and the secretary was instructed to again write to the Minister for Public Works pointing out the deplorable state nf all interior roeds, and asking for something, to be done at once of this winter we will be worsa air than ever.
