BOARD OF EDUCATION.
At the meeting of the Board of Education on Wednesday teachers at Remuera, Papakura Valley, Opotiki, Parnell, Cambrigde, Kirikopuni, CaDbage Bay, Matangi and the Normal Schools were granted leave of absence to attend the territorial training camp. Tha following appointments were authorised by the board: —Mr W. S. Dempsey, headmaster, Kio Kio; Mr T. E. A. Mackay, headmaster. Mokai; Miss J. Kane, Turanga-o-moana; Miss C. L. Peart, Te Uku: Mr T. N. Hewlett, Waiomio; Miss E. S. L. J oil, assistant, Mapiu; Miss M. L. Lotter, pupil teacher, from Taumarunui to Kakahi; Miss E. H. Scott, pupil taacher, Taumarunui. The selection committee recommended that school committees be consulted regarding proposed appointments as follows:—Aria, Bole charge, Mr J. E. Marshall; Rotorua District High School, secondary assistant, Mr F. W. Greenwood; Paeroa District High School, secondary assistant, Miss H. J. Adlington; Waikino, assistant master, Mr W. A. G. Mar tin. Te Kuiti, assistant, Miss C. A. Goodyear. Applications for schools at Kahuwera and Tangitu were declined, and a request for a school at Waitomo Valley was referred to the inspector. The es of an aided school at Wbawharua was authorised. Application is to be made for th« reservation of a school site on the Marakopa Vlaley road. The architect is to report on a request for improvements to ths grounds at the Tfl Kuiti school.
Application is to be made to the Minister for authority to constitute a District High School at Te Kuiti.
