DAVIS CUP.

AUSTRALIA'S PRELIMINARY,

TO BE PLAYED IN AMERICA

Ry Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyrignti London, Monday.

The Canadian Tennis Association has refused to send a team to England to play the preliminary round of the Davis Cup, and the Australians will have to go to America to meet Canada after the championships have been decided at Wimbledon.

Brookes and Wilding are somewhat chargined at Canada's action, having hoped to play the first round in England.

It is understood that it is very unlikely that Germany will send a team to America, consequently Australia's match in the second round will probably be cancelled, though the team will have to remain in the Statea for the semifinal.
