For a long time past the Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce haß been endeavouring to secure the concession from the Railway Department of excursion fares from Te Kuiti to Auckland by the express trains, but the Department has not acceded to the frequently made request. "With reference to your letter of 25h ult. in regard to the restriction 01 the use of excursion tickets on the express trains, I have the honour to inform you that Te Kiti residents are given reasonable facilities for travel ling to and from Auckland during the periods excursion tickets are in übo, and during the Easter holidays a train leaves Te Kuiti daily at 10.10 a.m* and arrives at Auckland at 4.0 p.m. On the down journey a train leaves Auckland at 10.18 a.m. and arrives at Te Kuiti at 4.15 p.m., and I regret that in the interests of long distance passengers I cannot see my way to authorise the removal of the restriction on the express servcies.—E.
