THE PARTIES OF PROGRESS.
LIBERAL AND LABOUR. [BY TELEGBAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Chriatchurch, Thursday. "There is only one fpoint on which the progressive parties are agreed," said Mr J. McCombs, M.P., to-nigbt, "but it is a good point, to oust the Massey Government. In the process of doing that the Social Democrat Party cannot afford to lose its identity, but both parties muHt be reasonable. I hope the Liberals are going to be reasonble. They should agree to this condition, that if they are returned to power by the help of the Social Democrat party, they will immediately place on the statute book a new electoral law providing for proporional representation. I think that ought to be one plan in the bargain," added Mr McCombs. "If we are to have bargain with the Liberal party it is only a reasonable proposal that the Liberal party should agree to a measure which would ensure the representation of each party on a fair base. Each party should be represented in Parliament according to its strength."
