APPRECIATION OF SERVICES.
PRESENTATION TO SPECIALS. The meeting called for Wednesday evening under the auspices of the Farmers' Union for the purpose of presenting the medals to specials who had served in Auckland during the strike, drew a fair attendance. Major Lusk, provincial president of the Farmers' Union, occupied the chair, and was supported by Messrs Lorigan and MoUyn Jones, who were in charge of contingents at Auckland. Hia Worship the Mayor and a number of councillors were also present. Only a few of the specials were able to be present, many of them probably finding it impossible to get in from their farms. Suitable refreshments were provided for the company and a number of toaats were honoured including that of the specials,proposed by Mr Somerville and responded to by Messrs Lorigan and Mostyn Jones; the Farmers' Union, responded to by the chairman, and Local Budies, responded to by the Mayor. During the even ing- songs and musical items were rendered by Messrs Blankn-an, Spencer, and Petersen.
