BOWLING.

The'Te Kuiti team finally selected to take part in the Auckland Exhibition tournament which opened yesterday, left for the city on Monday. It is to be regretted that Cochrane was unable to go as he has been bowling in fine form, while his knowledge of the game is always of great value to his side. Boles, who was chosen to fill the vacancy, will piay number two, while Matthew will take Cochrane's place as tnree. The quartette is a decidedly useful combination, with Williams leading and Power as skip, and local enthusiasts will be disappointed if they don't render a good account of themselves. The Jackson Cup competitions are giving rise to a great amount of interest, and some good games are being played in the various sections. The same may be said of the championship singles, in which Power holds a strong hand at present. During last week he defeated Taylor by the narrvvo marign of a point, and played a close game with Steel, whom he defeated by two points. Rowell is still in possession of the President's medal, having successfully defended it against Howarth last week. Other aspirants for the trophy will find the holder a hard nut to crack, as he is playing in excellent form at present, and has a rather useful handicap.

The necessity of having some comprehensive work done on the green in order to establish a permanently good green is being manifested emphatically as the season progresses. There are several schemes mooted for raising the necessary funds, the latest being the inauguration of a carnival on uo-to-date lines. There is every indication that a really first-clss entertainment, with Bide shows and attractions innumerable will be organised.
