ITINERANT TRADERS.
«> NEW BY-LAW ADOPTED. Fjr some considerable time past the business people of Te Kuiti have been agitating to have steps taken to have itinerant trader? in the town licensed. The matter was dealt with by ' the Chamber of Commerce and representations were made by that body to the Borough Council. The question came up for discussion at Monday evening's meeting of the Borough Council, when the following by-law was adopted:— "An itinerant trader (not b»ing a licenced hawker or pedlar) shall mean and include any person, firm or company opening or using temporary premises for the sals of goods of any description for a period of less than six months, or shall sell or dispose of any goods of any description from door to door or who shall retail goods by taking orders by sample for delivery in the borough from any business place or places without the borough, but shall not include any bona fide commercial traveller who deals only with or solicits orderß only from persons or firms carrying on business within the borough. No itinerant trader shall sell, offer or expose for sale in any part of the borough of Te Kuiti any good-3 or articles whatsoever without a license authorising hi«n so to do signed by the town clerk, which license shall remain in force for the term therein stated over six calendar months, and no longer and shall pay a license fee of £5. Provided that such fee shall be refunded if the licensee remains continuously in business in the borough for six calendar months."
