TE KUITI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A meeting of the Te Kuiti Borough Council was held on Monday evening. There were present his Worship the Mayor, and Crs Matthew, Mabbett, Martin, Howarth, Somerville, Walsh, Moatyn Jones, and M. J. Jones. Application for Crossing. Messrs Wells and Son applied to have a crossing over the footpath put in to give access to their yard.—The clerk was instructed to write intimating that property owners were to put in concrete culverts at their own txpense. Morgue for T<? Kuiti.—The clerk of the Waitomo County Council wrote intimating that the Council was prepared to contril 'ite £25 to the coat of a morgue.—Rer lved that the County Council be thar.l.ed for its ready response Electric Ligb"- Connection. — H. G. Vauße applied to have the electric light extended ( > hip house and offering to contribut:. 1 towards the cost. Referred to the Electric Light Committee. Level Crossi g.— The Minister of Railways wrote acknowltdging the Council's request for alarm faella at Awakino road and King street crossings, and stating the request would have consideration. Municipal Saleyards.—The committee appointed to consider the matter of establishing municipal sale yards reported having carefully gone into this subject, and instructed the town clerk to communicate with various stock agents and auctioneers intimating that it?is proposed t<j procure municipal salajardsin Te Kuiti, and to ask them if they will support the movement, and also to point out that a common day will be fixed for sales. The clerk wag also instructed to write to the Borough of Hamilton asking for particulars as to the method adopted they with regard to the controlling of their sale yards, and the manner in which the stock agents and auctioneers p9y for the use of such yards. The following recomendations by the Works Committee were adopted— That the proposed river deviation work at the northern end of Rora street be gone on with at once, and that the services of a professional engineer be engaged to carry out the scheme: that the clerk be instructed to intimate to all property owners in Rora street, ■whose verandahs are not out to the full width of 18 feet, that the Council have obtained the highest legal opinion upon this matter and find that they can compel the said owners to either extend their verandah* or remove same within a stated period, and to give them until January 30th, 1914, to carry out the work; that the chairman and Cr Mabbett be authorised to inspect and approve, or otherwise, the plans of the permanent levels supplied by Davis and Porteous; that the Railway Department be allowed to connect their various properties with the Borough sewerage system upon condition that they pay to tho Council a fee of £1 per conection for supervising services, and £1 per annum per connection for maintenance; that the Council accept dedication of Sunnyside estate sub-division upon receiving' from Messrs Broadfoot and Finlay cheque covering the full amount due to the contrsctor for the completion of the road? as a guarantee that the reading will be completed to the satisfaction of the Council.
