CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
A meeting of the committee of the Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce was held in Mr Mostyn Jones' office on Monday afternoon. Voluminous correspondence was dealt with relating to the Mangakokopu road and the opinion of the meeting was unanimously in favnur of assisting the settlers, by every means in the Chamber's power, to gain the desired access to the railway. It had akeady been decided at a previous meeting that the following days should be recommended to his Worship the Mayor and the Te Kuiti Borough Council as public holidays, viz.: January Ist, 2nd and 29tb, March 17th, People's Day at A. and P. Show, Te Kuiti races, Good Friday, Easter Monday, June 3rd, October Ist (Labour Day), Christmas Day and Boxing Day. This recommendation will be deferred until after the annual meeting, in order to allow of discussion and amendments. The date for tbe annual meeting of members of the Chamber was fixed as January 27th. Ihe meeting will be held in the Municipal Hall, and it is hoped that every member of the Chamber will be present.
