Se%eral accounts Wfie passed for | payment; the agreement with the Paraheka settlers was drafted and passed, with the telephone connection left over. The chairman reported that he had been making inquires regarding the grant for tbe Mokauiti road, and as far as he could learn the delay rose through the form of "legalising" not being attended to, and that it was only surveyed recently. It wa? thought by some that this need not be a necessary bar to the progress of the work. Mr Buchanan waited on the commit-
tee in reference to the carting of cream along the Totoro valley. A scheme was outlined, particulars oi which would be attended to within a week.
The manager reported all things to be in readiness for the opening on September Ist, but it was feared that owing to the recent heavy rains the roads would give much trouble to suppliers for some time to come This was to he greatly deplored as so far the season had been all that could be desired strong growth with
little frost showing itself everywhere. The only cure for the trouble is metalled roads and settlers should one and all move as one man to bring about the remedy as sppedily a i possible.
