RANGIATEA BRANCH. Own Correspondent. At the instigation of the above branch the chief Government veterinary surgeon very kindly arranged for Mr Lyons, supervisor of the Auckland district, to deliver a lecture at Rangiatea on Friday last. The meeting, which was attended by practically every settier in the district, was held ! at Mr David Ormsby's large milking ■ shed, where a practical demonstration : with troubles affecting milch cows was given. Mr Lyons demonstrated j the manner to hold a cow for drenching, how to relieve a turnip stuck in a . cows' throat, and how to throw a bull. | The lecturer dwelt on the most fre- ' quent diseases and troubes met with in : milch cows such as milk fever, inflamI mation of various organs, abortion, ! calving troubles, tuberculosis and : tutu poisoning. '. Some of those present related personal troubles with stock describing | the symptoms and the lecturer gave ! the remedy in each case. I A hearty vote of thanks was aci corded Mr Loyns for his very able ! lecture, which proved most interesting ! and instructive. ! Mr Lyons, at the request of the j Farmers' Union, also delivered lec- ! tures at Otorohanga Kio Kio and I Otewa.
