LANDS FOR SETTLEMENT.
KING COUNTRY AREAS. ROADS AND NATIVE LANDS. A statement of the lands in the Auckland district which are now being prepared fur settlement has been compiled by the Lands Departments, and is supplied by iha Minister for Lands (Hon. W. F. Massey). The statement shows that at (he beginning of this month the ordinary areas that were, being scheduled for cpsning amount to 3547 acre?, whilst a further 1874 acres of education reserves were also being scheduled. Blocks sufficiently surveyed to bs scheduled about the end of this month amount to 25,457 acres, whilst other blocks which ara under survey and are tn be scheduled later, amount to 102.792 a..'res. The total are in the district that is dealt with is thus 133,710 acras. The blocks nearly ready to be scheduled are the following: acres, Biekerstaffe Settlement, nine holdings; 1473 acres, Takahue, five holdings; 2550 acres, Rotoraa eight holdings and twenty paddocks; 000 acres, Orahiri, one holding; 4 000 scree, Tokatoka, 29 holdings; GOOO acres, Hauraki Plains; 5000 acres, Ohauiti Settlement, fifteen holdings; 1400 acres, Ballachraggan Settlement, Waitoa, fifteen holding?.
The other blocks under survey are as follows, the dates given being only approximate: tete, four holdings, should be completed in four months; 810 acresj, Titirangi, about 20 holdings, to be completed in three months; 17.805 acres. Tutamoe, seventeen holdings, six months; 13,725 acres, Hukeranu', ten holdings, three months; 1640 acres Maungataniwha, seven hold ings. three months; 8671> acres, Mangaoronga and Wharepapa, 30G0 acres should be ready in three months; 3000 acres, Pakaumanu, this is ready for opsning on scheme plan, but it has been deferred on account of the excessive cost of acquiring and constructing access roads through native land that has been acquired by Europeans; 1100 acres, Pakiri, four holdings and some small lots, three months; 7000 acres, Tekaputahi Block, Uretawa, ten holdings, and 17,520 acres, Moerangi Block, Kawhia, both ready for opening on scheme plan but withheld pending consideration of prices; 453 acre 3, Awhitu, can be scheduled in two or three weeks; 20,000 acres, Urutawa, thirteen holdings, to bo scheduled in two or three weeks; and 'JOOO acres. Kerikeri, will probably make two small grazing runs, survey will be completed in about two months.
