INQUEST AT MANGAPEHI.
The inquest on the death of Thorns Munro was held at Mangapehi on Thursday. Mr J. Tammadge, actingcoroner, presided. Sergt. Rowell from Te Kuiti wa3 also present. Evidence showed that Munro acted as guard and brakesman on Ellis and Burnana's timber train running from Tirau to Mangapehi, and while shunting must have tripped and fallen under the wheels of a waggon which passed over his body. Munro did not speak after the accident and died very short ly afterwards. The following verdict was given: "That deceased was ajjcidently killed while shunting." A rftler was added to the effect that the guard or brakesman in charge of the train should not in future do "flying" shunting. A rider was also added, expressing sympathy with the widow of the deceased who was vei'y popular and much respected throughout the neighbourhood.
