CORONER FOR TE KUITI.

APPOINTMENT URGED BY THE COUNCIL. The appointment of a coroner for Te Kuiti has been consistently urged upon the Government by the residents for several years past, but for some abstruse reason no effort has been made by the authorities to respond to the wishes of the people. At Monday night's meeting of the Borough Council the matter was referred to by the Mayor, who suggested the council should make further representations concerning the matter. He referred to the present unsatisfactory Btate of things, and moved that the town clerk be instructed to write to the Minister urging the appointment of a coroner for the district. The motion was supported by the councillors and passed unanimously.
