MORGUE FOR TE KUITI.
BOROUGH COUNCIL'S ACTION. For a considerable time past whenever a fatality necessitating public inquiry has occurred in the district, there has been an outcry concerning the necessity of establishing a morgue in the town. At a recent inquest the jury added a rider to their verdict on the subject, and this rider was duly conveyed to the Borough Council by the deputy-coroner, Mr J. Tammadge, J.P. Mr Tammadge strongly urged the borough to take action to provide such a necessary institution. In referring to the matter at Monday evening's meeting the Mayor said everyone would agree with Mr Tammadgs in the matter. He suggested that the council make representation on the subject to the Waikato Hosiptal Board with a request for a £ for £ subsidy for the erection of the building. He considered it probable the Government would grant a site for the purpose, and the cost of the building would not be great. The council agreed with the suggestion, and resolved to make the application to the Hospital Board through their representative on that body.
