TE KUITI'S RESERVES.

REPORT OF COMMITTEE. In connection with the various reserves of the Borough of To Kuiti the following report was submitted to the council on Monday evening by the committee appointed to deal with fho mnffpr No. I,—Section No. 17, Te Kuiti Village Settlement, two acres, Tawa street, given to the borough by the Government as an endowment: That the section be cleared of gorge, blackberry, and fern, etc., forthwth. Should the council decide at a later period to purchase its own horses, then the committee consider this section would be very suitable for use as a horse paddock. The committee are of the opinion that this piece of land can be satisfactorily roaded, cut up into six or eight building allotments and let on the "Glasgow lease" principle with advantage to the Borough Council. No. 2,—Part Pukenui 2D, No. 3, 1 acre 23.8 perches, pound site, Waiteti I road; cost £43: That the ground be I cleared of gorse and scrub forthwith. That a fence be erected from the entrance gate off the Waiteti road to the corner of the pound, a distance of approximately seven or eight chains, for the purpose of dividing the pound site from Messrs Cotter Bros.' paddock. Nos. 3 and 4.—Allotments 8 and 10, Block 6, Te Kuiti Township, 2 roods, Rora and Taupiri streets; cost £776: Municipal buildings, power station, and fire station siteß. 1 No. s.—Part Te Kuiti 28, No. 10, Block, 1 acre 2.9 perches, Julian street, quarry site; cost £l5O. No. 6.—Part Rangitoto- Tuhua, No. 88, 26 acres 3 roods: Waterworks dam site, Waiteti; cost £213 7s 6d. No. 7. —Part of Section Reserve adjoining Government Quarry, Waiteti road, quarry reserve: The committee have no recommendations to make on these four particular properties beyond reporting to the council the cost of each one. No. B. Te Kumi No. 12, 10 acres, sanitary reserve and nightsoil depot; cost 23: The committee recommend leasing this reserve for a stated period of years, but have no defiinite proposal to place before the council at the date of this meeting. It is probable that the sanitary contractor. Mr J. Markham, will very shortly submit a suitable offer to the council in this direction.

No. 9. —Public Domain, Rora street, approximately 4 acres: Th e committee realise that the council have, in taking over the control of tho Domain, also taken over a liability of £lO2 in the form of an overdraft at the Bank of New Zealand, which has to be met by the Borough Council during the ennsuing financial year ; but recommends as follows : —Thut tho council grant the Domain Cornn:itee a sum of £4O for the purpose of ploughing, levelling, and sowing tho ground, and planting of trees and shrubs, etc. That the council be requested to have the portion of fenco near (he Eeptic tank, recently damaged by ils workmen, repaired and put in order, which will cost about £5 That the clerk be instructed to write to the various sports clubs and ascertain what support the council may expect to receive from them annually if it decides to expend money on putting the grounds in good order and condition for play. That all sports and other clubs and societies, etc., making application for the use of the Domain, with the privilege to charge for admission therein, to be informed at tho time of their application, th&t they must |pay to the borough treasurer the cost, of the statutory advertising the letting of the Domain, for such privileges is granted to them by the council.
