TE KUITI DEBATING SOCIETY.
WANT OF CONFIDENCE MOTION. The weekly meeting of the above society Was held in the Municipal Hall last night, there being a fair attendance. The Public Works Statement brought down by the Hon. J. Steel, Minister for Public Works, was read and discussed, most of the members on both sides taking part in what proved a likely and interesting discussion. In the unavoidable absence of Mr Steel, the adoption of the Statement was moved by Mr Howarth, and seconded by Mr Scholes. Mr Young, Leader of the Opposition, moved an mendment reducing the amount proposed to be expended by £700,000, as an indication of want of confidence in the Government. This was seconded by Mr Langstone, and spoken to by Messrs Martin, Ellison, and Kirkwood. The adjournment of the debate was moved by Mr Young shortly after 10 o'clock, and the meeting closed.
