The Chamber for some time past has been conducting most ot its business by committee, this metho.l of working having been found t more satisfactory and eX P ed '*'° us than the calling of general meetings There is now a movement on foot to enlarge the functions of the Chamber by including within the scope of its activities the duties of a retailers association. The need for an association of this description in the town has been felt for some time, and it is probable that proposals on the ines indicated will be found acceptable to the retailers' generally. The is to be held in the Municipal Chambers, and a good attendance is expected. _____
