The Parliament, held under the aus Dices of the Te Kuiti Debating Societv was opened on Thursday evening ' There was a good attendance of members, while the gallery was well filled, a considerable number of ladies being present. The House was opened bl the Speaker, Major Lu=k who read the Governor's Speech, embodying the policy of the Howarth Government The Address-in-Reply was ? Jflr D. Graham, and seconded by Mr Inder, both speakers handling their subjects in excellent Btyle. Th p_ y was sbuject to some t r e n c J iant crit ;- ciam by the Labour party, Messrs Young, Langstone, Eketone, Mar in, Thomson, and Turner the cause ot the workers. The Govern ment policy was supported by MessWebber, Walsh, Howarth and othe [ B> and the motion on the Address in Reply was carried on the v , ol ® ea - p , Next sitting of Parliament the Pub lie Works Statement is to be broug down, to be followed by some urgent land legislation.
