TE KUITI DEBATING SOCIETY.

The opening of Parliament under the auspices of the.Te Kuiti Debating Society will take place to-morrow evening in the Municipal Hall. Considerable interest is being taken in the event both by members of the society and the general public, and the proceedings promise to be both instructive and entertaining. A wise step has been taken by the committee in providing that all Bills for consideration by the House shall be circulated at the previous meeting of the society, thus allowing a week during which members may prepare their criticisms and speeches. It was noticeable that towards the end of last session many excellent measures to which the framers had devoted time and thought were not discussed in a manner befitting their importance. This was particularly noticeable in connection with some of the land legis lation, which is to be reintroduced this session. The time allowed for consideration of the various measures should have the effect of rendering the evenings more profitable in everv sense To-morrow night the chair will be taken by the Speaker (Major Lusk), and the Governor's Speech provided by the Howarth Cabinet will be debated.
