SENSATIONAL GOLD ROBBERY.

MINE WATCHMEN, HELD UP. £3OOO WORTH OF GOLD. Perth, Tuesday. A sensational gold robberv occurred at the Bullfinch minrMin Friday night. The monthly clean-up was being made on the Bullfinch. The two watchmen, Gale and Casaey, locked the smelting room where they were engaged in smelting. Casaey went out to ask a third man, Sheldon, to bring same tea. When Cassey returned and opened the door, the two armed and masked men appeared, bailed him up, and gagged and bound the watchmen. As soon as Sheldon came with the tea he was similarly treated. The robbers promptly secured about 89Sozs. of gold, valued at over £3OOO. Cassoy managed to free himself shortly after the robbers left, and gave the alarm. The police found a number of gags and bags which the robbers had worn over their heads. Gale states that Sheldon refused to put up his hands, and showed fight. The robbers thereupon tripped and bound him, keeping all covered with revolvers.

The robbers smashed the electric globes, to prevent their operators being seen, drew the trayq from the retort furnaces, and threw water on the gold to cool it. Before departing the robbers fired a shot. Their movements showed that thoy were well acquainted with the workings of the mine.

Early developments are expected. The police and black trackers are busy, and the recent rain has mad© tracking comparatively easy.
