MAWSON'S EXPEDITION.
WIRELESS STATION WORKING. MESSAGE FROM EXPLORERS. By Telegraph—Press Association.—Copyright Received this day, 9.20 a.m. Sydney, This Day. The wireless station at Adelie Land is now working splendidly. Mawson is- in regular communications with the Pennant Hills station. A long message dated April 2nd, gives details of the party's doings. It mentions being assailed nightly by wireless signals far and wi.ii l including Government stations at New Zealand, Melbourne, and Hobart, as well as warships'- He states the expeditions' ?rork proved the Antarctic continent lies much further south than Wilke's American expedition mapped it. Winter is fairly upon them, and the last penguin has departed. Terrific hurricanes are being experienced. The party is frequently setting bottles adrift to ascertain the direction of the ocean currents. He hopes the ships picking them up will report. He is anxious that the Aurora should leave Australian November and pick up the Mackuri party arriving at Adelie Land about December 10th. It is anticipated the ice conditions will then allow the Aurora to do this. He is particularly anxious that a competent physicist should join the Aurora, equipped with pendulum apparatus.
