CHARGES TO CONSUMERS

In view of the near apporach to completion of the electric installation at Te Kuiti, the report submitted by the Electric Light Committee recommending a scale of charges for the current will be of interest. The scale as follows was adopted by the council:

LIGHTING. With Meter.—First 50 units per quarter, 8d per unit; second do., 7£d; third do., 7d; fourth do. 6d. All units per quarter above 200 at 5d per unit. Without Meter: Optional System for Small Consumers. —This scheme is optional for premises in which five lights or less are installed. Such premises may pay by meter if they so desire. Bedroom lights not.exceeding 16 c.p. metallic or equivalent 4d per week or 4s 4d per quarter per lamp. Other lights not exceeding 50 c.p. metallic or equivalent 6d per week or 6s 6dper quarter per lamp. POWER. 4d per unit for the first- 300 units per quarter; 2d per unit up to 4000 units per quarter; Ifd per unit from 4000 to 10,000 units per quarter. Special arrangements may bs made with large consumers.
