TE KUITI ESPLANADE.
A BEAUTIFYING SCHEME. SCHOOL CHILDRENS' GOOD WORK. For some considerable time past the boys attending the To Kuiti public school, under the able direction of the headmaster, Mr E. A. Fower, have been devoting much of their spare time to agricultural and experimental work. The work in connection with the school garden, which has been excellently carried out, is nnturally somewhat limited, and the surplus energy of toe boys has been directed towards beautifying that portion of the Esplanade which boundß the school ground. The slopes have been well cleaned and prepared and have been ! sown in grass, while well selected [ trees have been systematically planted [on the space. The excellent results j thus obtained have inspired the school children to further efforts, and at Monday evening's meeting of the council an application was received from Mr Power for a number of tools to be used in clearing a further portion of the Esplanade. Appreciative reference to the fine work accomplished by the school waß made by the councillors generally, and it was decided to supply the toola asked for.
