THE PLUNKET SHIELD. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION. ] Auckland, This Day. The match for the Plunket Shield was concluded yesterday, when Canterbury won bv eight wickets and taree runs. In the first innings Auckland were disposed of for the moderate total of 190 runs, to which Canterbury replied with 364, Hayes contributing over the century. In their second essay at the wickets the defenders of the Shield did much better, putting together a total of 9.92, leaving Canterbury 119 runs to make to win. This they compiled for the loss of two wickets, Lusk scoring 82. After the game, Mr F. Earl, president of the Auckland Cricket Association, presented the Shield to Mr D. Reese, captain of the visitors.
