BOARD OF EDUCATION.
KING COUNTRY MATTERS. At the meeting of the Board of Education, held on Wednesday last several'matters affecting the King Country were dealt with. Application is to be made fo* a grant for shelter shed schools at Arapae and Oparure. The opening of an aided school in a building offered by Mr Street at Otunui, the establishment of an aided school at Rotopotaka, to be worked half-time with the proposed school at Paraheka, and of an aided school at Te Hoe, Ohinewai, were authorised. The Mahoenui committee's request for an increase of the grant for the school was referred to the architect. The Minister is to be asked for an increase of the grant to provide for the enlargement of the school, and the erection of a new residence at Taumarunui.
A request tor a grant to provide grazing for children's horses at Mangaroa was declined. An application from Mr E, J. Brown for a school at Onura Valley was referred to the inspector.
