TE KUITI MUNICIPAL BAND.

SOCIAL EVENING. At the invitation of the members of the above band a large number of citizens assembled in Hattaway's sampis room last evening. His Worship the Mayor presided, and supported by Crs Somerville and Tammadge. During tne evening the Mayor presented to Mr ff. Hetet a silver match box for the most improved player since the band started, aid Mr Sowry with a medal for the riio3t; regular attendant at practices. A very entertaining programme was supplied by Messrs Purchas, Sowry, McDonald, Bartley, Feran. Sheehan, Erikson and Hetet. The various toasts were proposed and supported by Messrs Robertson Rutherford and Gourd, "Visitors"; Cr Somerville— Bowdler and Purchase," Band"; Mr Robinson Vause and McNaught "Band Supporters"; J. B. Young—J. T. Hetet, "Maori Friends"; Mr McDonald—the Mayor, Crs Tammadge and Somervile," "Borough Council"; Mr Edwards Jerom9 and Dawson, "The Ladies"; Mr Bartiey—Mr Tammadge, "The Press." The full band supported the toa3t of the King with musical honours. The band is to be congratulated on the success of the function, which is to be the forerunner of many other pleasant evenings.
