OTOROHANGA.

Own Correspondent. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Otorohanga Town Council was held in the council's office on Monday last Present Messrs C. Elliott (chairman), J. Ormsby and J. Gardiner. A letter was read from the Chamber of Commerce in reference to the town pump, town hall door, fire brigade, and to a town band.—The council decided to procure a new pump before the drv weather sets in. In reference to the'ball doors, the clerk stated that the proprietor of the hall intends to do away with the present doors and to substitute sliding doors. Re band and fire brigade, the council are calling a public meeting for Wednesday. December 18th, to discuss forming a fire brigade, and also to resuscitate the band, and to locate the instruments, towards .the cost of which the public subscribed about £4O. Several tenders were received for the removal of night soil, and Mr Watkins' tender was accepted.
