■'.■.. -.. - Newton King reports:— On November 26th, for my fortnightly Stratford sale the heavy rain which prevailed all day prevented many vendors from yarding their cattle. Consequently I had only a small entry'of about 500 head. The attendance also was considerably affected by the weather, but buyers being present and competition was quiet, but after the sale practically the whole of the yarding with the exception of the dairy cattle was cleared as follows:—-Fifteen months grade Jersey heifers £4 to £4 2s yearling bulls £1 to £2 6s. bulls for canning from £3 3s to £5 Is, two and a halfyear steers with a bit of colour £4 103, empty two and a half year coloured heifers £4 15s to £5 2s 6d, grads3 £4 5s to £4 lis, fat cows £5 10s to £6 7s 6d, good store cows £3 13a 6d to £4 12s 6d, small stores £2 6s 6d to £2 12s, springing heifers £6, dairy cows £6 10s, three to three and a half year bullocks £6 12s 6d. On November 27th at my Stony River yards I had only a small entry with a good demand as follows: —Fifteen months grade heifers £3 6s to £3 12s, small £2 15s, fifteen months steers, good £3 5a 6d, bulls from £2 16a to £6, empty two year heifers £4 Is to £4 17s, store and forward cows from £4 6s to £5, springing heifers £5 2a 6d to £7 ss, dairy cows £5 12a 6d, cows and- calves £5 to £5 5a 6d, slips pigs 193 6d, small stores 24<*, young pedigree Berkshire boars £2 2s. NAPIER »YOOL SALES. AN ALL-ROUND INCREASE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OGRESS ASSOCIATION".] Napier, Monday. The wool sales opened exceptionally strong, with keen competition from a full bench of buyers. The catalogue tntalled'l3,69s bales, and very few lots were passed. American competition for better class stimulated other buyers, and the sale was very strenuous. Evidence of this is furnished by the fact that one consignment of 149 bales, comprising nine lots, was put through in 45. seconds, the price aggregating £2500. Prices showed an all-round increase, averaging l£d. The Bank of New Zeaiand has received the following cable from its London office-.—"Current prices for North Island farmers' lots are— Coarse crossbreds 36-40's qualitty, average condition 10§d to lid per lb; meidum crossbreds 44-46' a quality, average condition, lid to llfd; fine crossbreds, 50's quality, average conditio-, 12d to 13d per lb." The High Commissioner's cable, dated London, November 30th, is as follows, quotations ; unless otherwise specified, being average market prices on spot:.— '•' Mutton. —The market is firm Canterbury 4§ti, North Island 4Jd. Lamb.—The market is firm. Canterbury s|d, other than Canterbury 4£d. '"■■': Beef.—The market is steady, with improved demand. New Zealand hindquarters 3Jd, fores 3d. Butter.—The market is very unsettled and speculative. There ia better demand for .best quality, but little leriiand for second-class quality. Choice New Zealand 115s, to 118s, ordinary quality New Zealand 110s to 114s, Australian 110s, Argentine 109s. Danish 1295, Siberian 107s. Cheese.—The market is steady, and fair uusiness is being done at lower prices. White 59s 6d, coloured 60s 6d. Hemp.—The market is steady, with improved demand. New Zealand good fair grade £33, fair grade £3l 10s, fair current Manila £33 for anj positions. The output from Manila for the Week was 21,000 bales. Wool.—The market is strong.
