DEFENCE CONFERENCE.
A NEWSPAPER'S SUGGESTION. By Telegraph.—Press Association--Oojiyrielit London, Monday. The Times, referring to the visit to England of the Hon. James Allen, the New Zealand Minister of Defence and Finance, suggests that the Hon. G. Pearcti, the Australian Minister of Defence, might also visit England at the same time, or tho member of the British Cabinet concerned might find it possible to attend a subsidiary defence conference in Australia. Failing this, Vancouver might prove a convenient half-way meeting place.
"DEFINITE SCHEME NEEDED." Sydney, Tuesday. The Sydney Morning Herald declares that if the proposed Imperial Conference at Vancouver is held, it will be one of the most important meetings since the Dominions were called into council with the Imperial Government. With regard to the defence of the Empire, the journal adds, some definite scheme for the future nvus t be evolved. The proposed conference should do much to make this possible.
