IMPROVED FARM SETTLEMENTS. In connection with the roads to serve improved farm settlements it is satisfactory to note that the provision made this year is a substantial increase on previous allocations. For roads in improved farm settlement blocks to give access to the Main Trunk railway area, the sum of £25,000 is allocated, as against £IO,OOO last year. For clearing, ploughing, grassing, fencing, draining, roading,- purchase of stock, and etc., in improved farm settlements the sum of £IB,OOO is provided, Auckland receiving £6OOO, Taranaki £9OOO, and Wellington £3OOO.
