Tho advisability of the roading of the Dominion being undertaken by tho Government, and a great forward ronding policy on national lines being carried on is the subject of a question addressed to tho Prime Minister by Mr Young M.P. f»/r Waikato. In explanation of his (juestion Mr Young status that in many parts of tho Dominion the existing roads are practically impassable to vehicles oxcept during the summer, and many parts aro closed to settlement, or only settled unprofitably, because for lack of roads the produce of the land cannot be economically carricd'to market. Tho general prosperity of the State and tho progress of tho Dominion depend upon the productive use of the land; and it is I title enough to ask that the farmer should be given roads at the cost of the Consolidated Fund to which he contributes so largely, both directly and indirectly. An answer to the question will bo given on Wednesday (to-day).
