In a speech, h 9 said if anyone signing the covenant went back or failed at the critical moment, let that person beware. Ho would be his brother's betrayer, and an ignoble successor to Lundy. who advised the surrender of Londonderry in King James' time. There would be no compromise, but if the Govern ment dropped the shadow it might pursue the substance with the Unionists' help, namely, ensuring the completion of the land purchase scheme, the improvement of education, the development of agriculture, thus ensuring the people's contentment and prosperity. NATIONALIST ATTACK. London, Monday. A party of Nationalists attacked a procession which was escorting Sir E. H. Carson to the station at Londonderry. The police, when dispersing the mob with their batons, were stoned, two police and four bandsmen being injured. A BISHOP'S DENUNCIATION. London, Monday. Intercession services were held in the Protestant Churches of Ireland yesterday, Bishop Day preaching at Londonderry Cathedral, asked if responsibility to God and unborn generations would be discharged by tamely submitting to be sold like brutes in the cattle market by politicians who received 70 venal and dishonest votes.
