THE KAWA SWAMP.

[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRKSS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Monday.

Mr George Kay, chairman of the* Kawa Drainage Board, recency waited upon the Hon. W. Fraser, Minister of Public Works, in regard to the Kawa swamp road, and asked for a grant of £250 for this necessary work. Mr J. A. Young attended and supported the application. The Minister, in reply, expressed himself as favourably impressed, and said he would do his best as far as the finances at his disposal this year would permit. Mr Kay also urged upon the Minister the urgency for a subsidy towards the work of the vigorous pushing on of the swamp drainage. The Minister promised to look into the matter with a view to seeing what could be done.
