BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS.
AUSTRALASIAN MEETING. By Telegraph—Press Association.—Copyrigllt, Sydney, Tuesday. The Australasian amateur boxing championships opened yesterday. The first rounds resulted: —■ Bantamweight McMillan, Tasmania, beat Gunn, New Zealand, on points. Featherweight—Barr, New Zealand, knocked out Lewis, Tasmania, in the first round. Lightweight Graham, Victoria, beat Penrose. New Zealand, on points. Welterweight;— Withy, New Zealand, beat Newhouse, Victoria, on points. Middleweight Kane, Victoria, beat Borham, New Zealand, on points. Heavyweight—Coghill, New South Wales, beat Fitzsimmons, New Zealand, on points.
DISGRACEFUL DECISIONS. Christchurch, Tuesday. Mr Atack, manager of the New Zealand boxing team, cables that the decisions in the bantam and heavyweight classes were disgraceful. Gunn and Fitzsimmons both won their bouts with plenty to spare.
