OTOROHANGA.

Own Correspondent. Another most enjoyable euchre drive and dance, proceeds in aid of the Roman Catholic Building Fund, was held in the hall on Thursday jvening. The Dainstaking committee aeing favoured with a fine night, were rewarded by having the hall well illed, and the takings amounted to jbout £9. About twenty tables were cully occupied, and play commencing sharply each one appeared intent jpon trying to win the valuable prizes. About 10 o'clock the euchre was called off. Mrs O'Brien and Miss Johnson tied for first lady, and in the cut Miss Johnson was the more fortunate, and won a silver mounted umbrella, Mrs O'Brien gaining" second prize, a beautifully worked afternoon tea cloth presented by Mrs Roigara. Three gentlemen also tied for first Messrs Prime, Simpson and E. Cumpstone. In the cut Mr Simpson secured first priza a nice pair of military hair brushes given by Mr McGovern and Mr E. Cumpstone scored the pipe and ash tray given by Mr H. M. Quinn for second prize. There were no booby prizes allotted. After the euchre the hall was cleared and dancing was indulged in until an early hour. The dance music was supplied by Mrs Gardiner and Mr Thompson. During the evening a very tasty supper was handed round.
