GOLF.
The Te Kuiti Golf Club held their opening day on Saturday la3t on Messrs Cotter Bros.' property, kindly lent by them. A large number of players and spectators attended, and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. The committee and secretary are to be congratulated upon the work they had done to the ground in such a short of time. The ladies' committee supplied afternoon tea, which was thoroughly appreciated. A very successful season'i3 anticipated, and it is gratifying to see so many new players taking up the game. It will be advisable for the club to have rules printed, and to include a few ciauaes uf the "etiquette of golf," as, at times, one felt aything but safe, with balls whistling round one's head. However, with a large number of new players out, it was not surprising that this should be the case, and the fault rzill no doubt soon be remedied. It is anticipated that matches will shortly be played with outside clubs, which should be an incentive to the local men and women to put in some regular practice.
