A RANGIOAHIA REQUEST.
Mr Kavanagb, chairman of the Rangioahia Road Board, brought before the Minister the position of the board in respect to a subsidy of £2O&, of which £6OO had been expended. He wished to know if the subsidy would bs continued.
The Minister replied that any arrangement previously made would certainly be carried out. Mr Young, on behalf of the Maihihi settlers, urged that two small bridgps be erected over streams near the settlement. The work was urgent and had been recommended by the Government engineer.
The Minister said he would do what he could but it had to be borne in mind that applications for at least two millions of money were annually made and as the sum available was usually between four and five hundred thousand pounds it was obvious a great deal of cutting down had to be done. Mr Prendergast said the work was really necessary in order to give access to the settlers,. The same speaker also urged that a block of native land adjoining the settlement should be thrown open. The. Minister promised to refer the matter to the Native Minister.
