A BRANCH RAILWAY.
The authorisation and construction of a railway from Te Awamutu to Putaruru was urged. M J. B. Teasdale said the railway would open up a great stretch of fine country in the and adjoining districts. The railway was badlv needed. Roading metal was scarce, and the proposed line would open up good quarries which would benefit tha Waikato generally. It would also shorten the distance from Wellington to Rotorua by 40 miles, and from Auckland to Rotorua ny 10 miles. He suggested a light electric railway.
Mr Fraser, in reply, said a tremendous amount of money was required for roading. He could not say anything regarding the policy of the Government, but the representations of the deputation Would be noted, and would be considered by the Cabinet.
