MAHOENUI-KAWHIA ROAD.
The Mahoenui-Kawhia road was dealt with by Messrs Were, Haylock and Jackson. The history of the road was given by Mr Were and the necessity of opening it up in order to give Ratanui settlers an opportunity to supply the Marokopa factory was urged. Cream had now to be packed a distance of seventeen miles and b--' opening up the road about three miles it would pnable a vehicle to get to a convenient point and receive the cream.
Mr Jackson said the packer last year was travelling night and day and the horses wer9 sometimes lost on the road. The land was highly assessed and the holdings were small. The settlers therefore had to depend upon dairying. Mr Fraser said he was glad to have the matter explained and he would do what he could to give effect to the request. If the work was dune he would take care to have it put in hand at once.
